Class information
There will never be more than 6 dogs in a class group. This is to ensure safety, comfort and to set your dog up for success as much as possible within a class environment. Each week, you will be given a training guide by email the day after your class. This will include video links, pictures and instuctional information for you to continue practicing at home. Undertaking the homework each week is vital to your continued success with your dog.
You will also be given access to our virtual classroom FaceBook group. This group will have a weekly check-in on Fridays and general support, as well as little weekly optional challenges for you to try. It is a safe space, where you can post videos and pictures of your progress and get feedback or support if something isn't quite right when practicing.
At class, we will have food treats available but we do require you to bring your own treats to work with as each dog will have different tastes which we may not be able to cater for.
Please come to classes with poobags, a collar or harness on your dog, and a plain flat lead. Extendable leads, choke chains, prong collars or tightening harnesses are not recommended as the function of these tools may clash with our methods and confuse your dog. We want you to be as successful as possible in your training!
You will need a mat / blanket / towel for classes. Please bring one of these with you, and keep bringing the same one to classes each week. We will also require you to bring your dogs favourite toy.
Payments
Courses cost depends on which course you are doing. The fee not only covers the costs of the materials and coursework, it also has to pay our staff for both their in-person and virtual support. No other program in Ireland offers such in depth support, so you're a lucky bunch!
Payments of fees should be made once your booking is confirmed by email/phone and no less than 48 hours prior to the first day of classes. Details of how to pay will be included in your confirmation email.
Cancellations
Cancellations must be made in writing by email. Services that are cancelled within 72 hours of our booked appointment are non-refundable. Rearranging your booking time is at the sole discretion of Polite Paws Dog Training. Please be aware that if you cancel a class at the last minute, it is unlikely that the spot can be filled. In exceptional circumstances they may be refunded or rearranged at the sole discretion of Polite Paws Dog Training.
Safety
All dogs must be kept on a lead at all times, and the lead held by a person aged over 16. We have a strict policy of one dog per person. Dogs are under your supervision and care whilst at class. Where appropriate, dogs may be allowed off lead for supervised play, exercise progression or any other reason as deemed suitable by Polite Paws staff.
Children
We love kids here at Polite Paws! Children are more than welcome to attend training sessions, with appropriate adult supervision. We accept no responsibility for children at training sessions and it is the responsibility of the supervising adult to ensure childrens safety at all times. Young people under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
Images/Videos
We may take pictures and videos of your dog for marketing/education purposes. Whilst names of dogs may be shared, images, locations, names and other identifiers of family members will not be shared. Please let us know should you have any concerns.
