What do you get with your program?
Each person has different learning preferences; some of us enjoy rote learning, sitting exams, reading etc. Some of us prefer to watch instructional videos or see visual demonstrations of the information. Some of us prefer trial and error; do the thing, get feedback, retry the thing, get more feedback etc.
For this reason we have tried to create a dog training course for you that incorporates as many of these elements as possible. You don't have to utilise all of them, but they are all there for you to access should you need the support as you work through your plan.
Over the course of this program you will be using plenty of food and treats, along with toys and other reinforcers for your dog.
The reason we use food in training is because it can take thousands of repetitions for behaviour to become established, for our dogs to be able to do behaviour easily and quickly when cued.
We will need to both teach new skills, AND practice them a lot over a period of months AND in a variety of environments before we can say with any certainty that our dog can do them.
Recall is a journey, NOT a destination, and this behaviour will require refining, practice, retraining and reminding throughout your dogs life. I want this course to teach you and your dog to have FUN together, because that way you will both be able to do all the continuing work and enjoy your journey.
As this course takes dedication and perseverance in order to achieve our training goals, it is arranged and set up to keep you motivated and involved with a variety of different ways to participate. You can:
- Avail of in person real time training (up
to 3 sessions, but you can add on more
for a fee)
- Join our Dog Club and post your
own video progress for feedback, and
participate in our classroom challenges,
access informative posts and read our monthly
newsletter!
- Track your progress with our progress
tracker
- Follow the instructions and video
demonstrations in your training
handbook
